Interventional radiology ultrasound

A universal platform for interventional radiology ultrasound

In use for more than 30 years, ultrasound guidance can potentially decrease procedure time and increase accuracy, all without the use of ionizing radiation.

Philips Fusion and Navigation delivers multi-modality image fusion with a streamlined workflow that enables fusion between ultrasound and CT/MR/PET/CBCT images in under one minute.1

As demonstrated in the eL18-4, there is an 85% increased efficiency with uniform PureWave crystals (when compared to traditional piezoelectric (PZT) material in converting electrical input into acoustic output).2

Streamlined workflow and image quality

Our ultrasound systems for interventional radiology support a range of sophisticated capabilities for interventional applications. Streamlined workflow allows clinicians to achieve fast and effective fusion of CT/MR/PET/ultrasound with live ultrasound, while needle navigation aids in guiding biopsy and ablation of small and difficult-to-access lesions. Fusion and navigation can also be used in conjunction with Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS), giving clinicians access to powerful diagnostic tools with advanced visualization.

Image quality, advanced insights, workflow and support

  • Image quality: Confidently image at depth, even on technically difficult patients.3 Guide needles with a minimal blind zone and perform fusion and navigation without external tracking accessories.1
  • Advanced insights: Gain confidence in procedure guidance when the lesion is not visually obvious.1
  • Workflow: Outstanding ease of use and fast registration can help free up imaging suite capacity and enable more predictable, high-volume scheduling of the IR suite.1
  • A trusted partner: Experience a partner who offers support that is tailored to your needs and teams.

Advanced tools for interventional radiology

  • The mC7-2 micro-convex transducer allows imaging in tight intercostal spaces, helps reduce rib shadowing and provides a more direct needle approach.
  • The CIVCO Verza biopsy guide can be attached directly to the transducer without an external bracket.
  • Philips Fusion and Navigation enables multi-modality image fusion in less than a minute and needle navigation with ultrasound.2
  • Tumor contour helps you outline a 3D contour around a structure. The lesion can be rendered in 3D or 2D and overlaid on the live imaging to help visualize the location in relation to surrounding structures.

The Philips image fusion and navigation system has been extremely valuable to us. Cases we normally perform with CT-fluoroscopic guidance are now routinely performed in the IR suite. This has improved workflow.
